5 photos every photographer must know how to create
1. The Background Blur Shot
Everyone's favorite, most common, known as having a shallow depth of field. The focus is on the subject of the photo, which is in the foreground and the background is blurred.
2. The Everything Sharp Photo
Use a wide depth of field so there is no room for blur. Everything in the photo is sharp, except moving objects. Also, photographers can use
hyperfocal distance when creating this type of photo.
3. Motion Blur
Objects in motion appear blurred. Use a slow shutter speed to achieve this effect. Also, learn about how to use
luminance and
exposure to enhance this type of photo.
4. Freeze Motion
Capture a moving subject in a still frozen shot. Use
flash or
studio strobes to create a different kind of effect with these photos. Using a technique called
stop motion, you can catch a water droplet splashing or someone jumping in mid-air. Play around with the shutter speed to create different looks. This method is used to determine the winner of races. A still shot is captured of when both competitors cross the finish line to see who is in front.
5. The Grainy Shot
The texture of the image is dependent upon the ASA (ISO) -usually a high ISO is used. If you zoom in close enough, you can see the pixels slightly merging with eachother. The higher your ISO, the more the pixels merge, and thus the more blurry or grainy the image looks.
Luminance, specifically lowlight plays a key role in how these images turn out as well. Master the grainy shot and you can create beautiful smooth, sharp pictures likewise.
